Well, my husband received his transfer here to Alabama after almost two years waiting! Woot! Our family can finally escape the humidity, crisis homeowner’s insurance, poor school education and complete lack of community. On our way to a new way of living..back to grass roots! YaY! After working all of our lives and finally having children in our thirties( girl and a boy)…we are going to realize that American Dream! Doesnt get any better than that.

So, let me take you on a portion of our journey to the promised land..(oh, and excuse the typo’s and tendancy to ramble)

Anyway..we pack up our belongings (not alot, but all ours) and hire/pay a moving company to deliver our things to our new little apartment we have waiting for us in the beautiful city of Hoover. Our family cannot wait for the new start and wonderful opportunites…especially the fantastic school system Hoover is reported to have…our excitement overwhelms us! Even as I type this I cry..just for the pure happiness we all felt as family. I am proud to insert the fact that we are so close and loving as a family unit.. OK…back to our story…After driving all night we arrive early to our new apartment complex and the office is closed..no problem Mc Donalds is just around the corner. And still nervous with our move we also wonder what apartment life will be like..a new adventure. We are introduced to our new abode, and frankly quite surprised that its not half bad..the movers are to arrive within 24 hours..this is a true experience. A day later, a phone call was placed to the movers..our furniture is still not here? The response from the movers?..”well, it might be as late as 5 days….” Alright, we can do this..good thinking on making sure we took all the comforters on the car with us. Seven days later..another call to the movers..still nothing has arrived?!?! and the children need to start their new schools and have no clothes or beds…response..”well we will deliver your furniture if you get a cashiers check or cash for $1500…”!!! Dear lord..please tell me we did not get scammed. Two months later and $3000 we received some of most of our belongings…nothing we can do unless we have enough money to hire an attorney…and we didnt. and still dont…so, that dinning room set we had that they broke well…I guess food trays will have to do?!

Ok…in the meantime..I will try to apply to all the jobs that I can just to find something to help supplement our loss and general essentails.. we have our health and we love each other…the children understand that their Birthdays won’t be that special this year..we will make up for it…even our Daughter’s sweet sixteenth..she understands..

So far in debt now..savings gone…I finally get a call from Circuit City! I am to start my $7 an hour job on November 11th…well, I never worked for that little, but anything will do..and, I’m grateful for the money! Friday evening I receive a phone call from the operations manager at Circuit City..I am so sorry to tell you that we cant hire you..the backgroud company (Kronos) we use for applicants has turned you down…???!!??? me???!!! ..but here’s their number, if you find anything out..we still would love to have you work with us. I track down Kronos..which uses a third party company USIS, and find out that indeed there has been a false report due to a miskey of my social security number. Calling back Circuit City with phone numbers and names of parties involved…yes, we see there has been an error….Double Jeapary Time.. sorry for the mistake, but ….no job!! The following Monday…my vehicle was repossessed!!! And I cant even attempt a recovery without proof of employement..well, I need to stop there..because now my eyes are burning from the tears…it all hurts…how does this endless circle of doom end for a family that has always done the “right” thing?…I am a woman of faith and prayer, so I’m quite sure God is aware of our plight…what am I doing wrong?! How do people that work, pray and remain faithful to friends and family become part of the “American Nightmare”?…with no light at the end of the tunnel?

Well, the holidays are near, and like the birthdays…it is looking to be very bare. Now with just enough to cover rent, necessay groceries (no special dinners here), and hopefully enough to cover all utilities….what can i do? how much can i expect from our children to understand? what am i doing wrong and how do i help us out of this abyss?

I know no one will really read this, but it feels good to get it out and cry alone before they come home…
